APL, Apotek Produktion & Laboratorier AB, is tasked with manufacturing extemporaneous medicines, which are individualized medications for a single patient, aimed at improving and saving lives. Many preparations are made for children and adults with various types of hypersensitivity. APL is state-owned and one of Europe's largest manufacturers of extemporaneous medicines and is also an established contract manufacturer within the life science industry with resources for development, manufacturing, and analysis of pharmaceuticals. At APL's facility in Umeå, we manufacture sterile and aseptic medicines and therefore have very high hygiene requirements. We are now looking for a temporary Process Engineer for a period of about one year to join the Process & Technology group. Together with about 15 colleagues, you will be involved in driving and participating in improvement work, investigating deviations, and developing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). The work is carried out in close collaboration with production and other departments.

The PositionAs a Process Engineer, you will primarily work with root cause investigations and the development of preventive and corrective actions (CAPA) within manufacturing as well as improvement work both in and outside of project form.

You will

  • conduct root cause investigations and develop preventive and corrective actions,

  • drive improvement work such as standardization and streamlining of process flows,

  • write and compile reports and develop instructions,

  • perform/participate in risk assessments (regarding safety, health, and environment or quality).

Other tasks may be added depending on education and previous experience.

Your main contacts will be with colleagues in Manufacturing, but also with other departments such as Quality and Pharmaceutical Development both in Umeå and at our other facilities.

We are looking to fill two positions: one temporary position until 31/12 2026 and one permanent position. The positions are full-time, 40 hours/week based in Umeå. A probationary period may be applied. Start date according to agreement.

Your Background and ProfileTo succeed and thrive in this role, you need to have an academic education in natural sciences or engineering, such as microbiology, life science, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical degree, or equivalent education.

It is advantageous to have:

  • work experience from a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals or food manufacturing,

  • experience and/or education in sterile processes, LEAN, and GMP.

Important personal qualities include being able to work independently, being proactive and structured, and having an easy time collaborating. You can quickly grasp new complex issues and possess good analytical skills. A good ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in Swedish and English is a requirement.
